OUR MOST LOVED FRAGRANCES
Jihan is… sacrifice.
Jihan, the Arabic name given to the beautiful crocus flower, is symbolic of cheerfulness, joy, youthfulness, and glee. The flower appears at the first sign of spring. The Jihan flower can be found in white, purple, and yellow. The purple Jihan is the most prized, and it reflects pride, dignity, and success.
But it is the sacrificial aspect of Jihan that has captivated people for centuries: giving up something beautiful and valued for the sake of something else. The Jihan flower is sacrificed to give the famous threads that are used worldwide in cooking: saffron, one of the most expensive spices of the world.
"When we were creating our signature Jihan fragrance – working with Drom’s perfumer, Valerie Garnuch-Mentzel – I was taken back to my early days admiring the cooking skills of my mother in the kitchen. I especially remember the cabinet that used to house the little sacred jar of saffron… I always used to feel as if the jar contained a sprinkle of magic – a pretty little pot that housed the rich red threads. I would watch with awe as my mother would infuse the aromatic rose water with saffron, and I would sit amazed as the saffron steeped and the water became a dynamic reddish/yellow hue." Moe Khalaf (Founder & Kajal Creative Officer).
This is the scent of Jihan – it opens up with a unique saffron/apple-blossom combination that seduces the senses. But like the characteristic of the Jihan flower, the richness is sacrificed for something greater. The seductive excitement is infused with heart notes of cloves, magnolia, and rose that gently pacify the wearer. The generosity of the fragrance is deeply felt – rich and giving. In the base, beautiful vanilla, oud, musk, and sandalwood touched with patchouli give wholeness to the fragrance and round it off perfectly.
